Humanitarian organizations increasingly rely on frontline negotiators to ensure their access to populations in need in complex and evolving environments.
The Centre of Competence on Humanitarian Negotiation has been created to facilitate the sharing of negotiation practices among professionals in the field as well as the development of practical tools to assist them in the elaboration of robust strategies.
How to negotiate with Non-State Armed Groups? How to better protect medical missions? How to implement international humanitarian law in today's negotiations on the frontlines? These are some of the issues to be addressed by the newly established Centre of Competence as a joint undertaking of the ICRC, WFP, UNHCR, MSF and the HD Centre, with the support of the Swiss FDFA.
