Allgemeine Informationen
1974 Foundation
Boutique Roma was founded by Rosy and Gian Carlo Torzuoli in Rorschach, a small town located at Lake of Constance. The goal was to propose hip, funky and crazy fashion to a bored swiss fashion interested community. Several independent labels such as Goldie, Diesel, Bobo Kaminski etc. were bought in Italy and directly imported. To signalize to the clientele that italian fashion was proposed the founders chose the name ROMA.
1979 Expansion
Another store Boutique Roma was opened in the heart of St.Gallen‘s old town at Multergasse 6.
During the years english designers such as Kathrin Hamnet, John Galliano etc. were added to the italian independent labels. In the early 80‘s japanes brands like Comme des Garçons and Yohji Yamamoto joined the proposal. Soon some of the famous antwerp six were added such as Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, Dirk Bikkembergs. Also Martin Margiela has been promoted since his second collection.
1997 First strategical change
The store Boutique Roma in Rorschach was closed to concentrate the ressources in the east Switzerland‘s main city St.Gallen.
The first store Roma Shoes was opened in the same year in St.Gallen where mostly italian shoe brands were proposed such as Costume National, Miu Miu, Henderson, Gianni Barbato etc.
2000 Second strategical change
The second store Boutique Roma was opened in Zürich at Lintheschergasse 17. New designers such as Rick Owens (from his very first in Paris presented collection), Junya Watanabe, Neil Barrett were promoted next to already established avantgarde designers like Dries Van Noten, Martin Margiela, Ann Demeulemeester, Comme des Garçons among others.
2004 Family Business successor
Tiziano Torzuoli joined his parents family business. After an intern formation in the family business he planned and forced several future‘s strategical changes.
2009 Third strategical change
The store ROMA OUTLET was opened at Goldach, a small town which borders on Rorschach to propose strong reduced stocked items of older seasons. The circle has been closed and ROMA returned ot its roots…
Few months later the store Boutique Roma left its historical location at Multergasse 6 and moved in a bigger space located at Neugasse 46.
But the historical location was kept and formed into the store ROMA DUE which dedicates its proposal to a hip, fresh, funky and bit younger fashion target community by proposing brands like Pomandère, Nicolas & Mark, Roque Ilaria Nistri among others.
2011 Fourth strategical change
The store Boutique Roma moved in a bigger space in Zürich at Pelikanstr. 6/8 whereas at the old location at Lintheschergasse 17 the second store Roma Shoes was opened.
During the years the proposal has undergone some alterations. Next to the avantgarde designers like Rick Owens, Dries Van Noten, Ann Demeulemeester several independent designers such as Guidi, Label Under Construction, Individual Sentiments, Forme D‘Expression, Lost & Found and recently Uma Wang were introduced and promoted. They all have in common the using of artisanal production techniques.
Whereas in the new opened store Roma Shoes internationally in the fasion scene well known off beat brands such as Guidi, Marsèll, Elisanero were proposed next to our avantgarde designer shoes.
